    Grows insanely fast

Posted by Joe Z on 11th Nov 2020

In moist spots Red Elderberry grew from bareroot twigs to ~5ft tall in the first year and a few were nearly 10 ft tall by the second summer. The plants are tall and lanky with numerous shoots. Elderberry looks best in spring but tends to lose most of its foliage by late summer, especially in drier spots. The red berries are pretty and get eaten quickly by wildlife.
